Tomorrow's Kids

Future focused research and innovation

We are working on bold, transformative research to create a future where cancer treatments are more effective, more targeted and less harmful.

By harnessing world-leading discovery tools, including our unique paediatric preclinical models and cutting-edge technologies, we aim to develop treatments that will change outcomes for children not yet diagnosed, in WA and around the world.

This will predominantly be achieved through our focus in 2 key areas: identifying synergistic treatment combinations and developing therapies for surgery.

Combination Treatments

We are developing new combinations of therapies that work together to attack cancer more effectively.

By identifying treatments that synergise, meaning they are more powerful together than alone, we aim to deliver better outcomes, fewer long-term side effects and the best possible quality of life for children.

10-year vision

Kids will have access to novel, safe, and effective combination treatments to increase survival rates and aim to reduce chemotherapies and radiotherapies in the future.

Therapies for Surgery

For many children with cancer, surgery is a crucial part of their journey. We are pioneering new therapies that can be used during surgery to prevent cancer from returning.

These world-first surgical treatments aim to improve recovery and reduce recurrence.

10-year vision

Kids will have access to world-first surgical cancer treatments resulting in significant reduction in cancer recurrence.

BRINGING TOGETHER
FUNDING PARTNERS

The WA Comprehensive Kids Cancer Centre envisions a future where all kids with cancer survive and thrive, through a collaboration integrating the clinical excellence delivered at Perth Children's Hospital and the research expertise of The Kids Research Institute Australia and The University of Western Australia.

The Centre, made possible thanks to support from the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and Perth Children's Hospital Foundation, is supercharging childhood cancer research and care.
